All the tribes of ancient Ukrainians left traces of themselves in the territory of Kholodniy Yar. Year after year, century upon century they created the Ukrainian culture and customs. Here were born Khmelnytchyna,Haydamatchyna, and Kolivshchyna. In the XIX century Ukrainian revolutionaries organized the Cheherin Conspiracy, and the Secret Armed Forces. At the beginning of the XX century the so-called Cheherinskiya agrarnye volinieneiya took place. In 1917 the Cossacks were liberated and in the following years the Haydamakas regiment of Kholodniy Yar was headed by Vasyl Chuchupaka.

The sables glittered and the bullets sang at Kholodniy Yar. There was seemingly not even a small space which wasnt sprinkled by Cossack blood, Yuri Horlis-Horsky wrote. Kholodniy Yar is covered with trenches and graves. It is said that in the ancient past it was hit by a meteor which created the deep ravine. The atmosphere of Kholodniy Yar is mystical and mysterious and appears to raise the spiritual feelings of visitors.

Roman Koval, researcher of the Liberation War in Cheherin region, adds that ordinary peasants had a natural instinct to fight in their beings; they hated their occupiers and their desire to win their freedom was deep and sincere. The folk of Kholodniy Yar didnt stay silent when the conquerors demolished what was most sacred to them. Ukrainian soil is permeated with the smell of bread, iron, and blood.

The route lies across the places where the inhabitants of Kholodniy Yar fought with the Russian Occupiers.
